I grew up in Lexington Illinois and graduated from Lexington High School. After graduating, I enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer. I served in the U.S. Army for seven years with tours of duty in South Carolina, Daegu Korea, Maryland and Germany.
I have worked at the Sheriff’s Office for the past twenty-seven years in various capacities. In 1991, I began my career as a Correctional Officer in the jail. After approximately seven years, I became a Deputy for the Sheriff’s Office. I served in patrol for several years until I was appointed a Domestic Violence Investigator. A year later, I was promoted to Sergeant and was a shift supervisor on midnights. In this capacity, I was also a Field Training Officer, oversaw the FTO program, became a radar instructor, TASER Instructor and Mobile Video Instructor where I evaluated and recommended for purchase three video systems for our squad cars. I also oversaw the video security system for the Law and Justice Center. After seven years in Patrol as a Sergeant, I was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the Support Services Division as the Commander. I oversaw Court Security, Process Division, training, uniforms and equipment, radios, mobile video in the squad cars and in-car computers. I also worked with our IT Department to create a mapping program for sex offenders, crash reports and crime mapping. I worked in this capacity until Sheriff Sandage appointed me as the Investigations Commander in 2014. I oversee five Detectives, a Domestic Violence Officer and the Evidence Manager. I also serve on several boards including BNCCC, Sex Assault Task Force, Children’s Advocacy Center and Veteran’s Court.
Outside of my job at the Sheriff’s Office, I enjoy spending time with my wife of twenty-eight years and our two dogs. I am also a Life Member of John H Krause VFW Post 454 where I have been the Post Adjutant, senior vice Commander, and currently the Post Commander in my second term until July of 2018. I will then serve on the board of directors for the Post. I am also a board member at the Bloomington Municipal Credit Union.
