Joch Our Service Dog
Meet Joch, a 3 year old black Labrador Retriever who works at the McLean County Children's Advocacy Center. He is a fully trained and certified service dog through Support Dogs, Inc. in St. Louis, MO. He began his training at the age of 8 weeks and graduated from the training in June of 2016 when we acquired him. He is considered to be a courthouse facility dog (definition from their program). Although he was placed with us because of his laid back personality and attentiveness to children, he still could be placed with someone who needs a service dog for any type of disability. He is recertified every year, along with his two handlers.
His commands range anywhere from picking up dropped items, opening doors, bumping drawers shut, etc. (things he would do as a service dog) to placing his head on a child's lap or laying next to them while they benefit from petting him (things he does as a support dog or facility dog).
Please contact the Children's Advocacy Center if you have any questions or concerns about Joch's certification or job title.
